INTERVIEW: My interview with Jam Cruisers (Facebook activist), Part II, the online interview, 19 June 2013

Kieran James1: Explain the events in your life that caused you to become an opposition supporter.

Jam Cruisers: Gerrymandering, grassroots astroturfing, astronomical ministerial salaries of which none of these scholars has proven their market capability to earn millions prior to joining the civil service and parliamentary cabinet, not proven...

KJ2: What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition party you are most closely associated with?

JC: They are there to scrutinize the ruling party's fallacies, but weak in terms of governance structure, my hope for them is just a 1/3 over-riding majority vote against all the nonsense bills passed in parliament.

KJ3: What do you think will happen to Singapore politics in next 10-15 years and how many seats will the opposition win at next election?

JC: I really have no idea, because the 25,000 new citizenships given out each year constantly shift the voting possibilities, I have doubts we can beat this, remember gerrymandering and astroturfing?

KJ4: What do you think of Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) Youth and internet political activism?

JC: I have not follow up on any political party closely, I am blogging as a sole voice of discontent, and dissipate my observations putting in the commonsense in the nonsense dished out.

KJ5: What do the opposition parties need to do to go from 25% to 50.1% and what type of people make up that next 25% that the opposition must win over?

JC: If you work as a volunteer in any of the opposition camp, you should be able to have a picture how they are going to achieve that, but the last May Day protest I attended, Tan Jee Say suggests chances are slim for any one opposition to have headway in parliament, the best bet is a coalition government, like the rainbow government in Europe, and I agree with him that is workable.

  1. By Jamcruisers' logic, that means only people like Donald Trump can be MPs. KJ, Jamcruisers is an old FB friend of mine. :)

"They are there to scrutinize the ruling party's falacies, but weak in terms of governance structure"

I have to fully agree. :)

Coalition govt? Not about to happen.

Thanks for sharing this insightful interview.
